Overview
John H. Bargren, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon treating a full range of orthopedic conditions with a focus on knee, hip and shoulder procedures. He keeps current on the newest advances in orthopedic care and is especially interested in total joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine and minimally invasive procedures.
He is committed to excellence by pledging to provide the highest quality of orthopedic care possible. Along with the treatment of immediate or chronic problems, he strives to integrate the doctrine of prevention in all of his treatment plans as a way to alleviate possible future difficulties. He also specializes in the personalized care of hip, knee and shoulder patients for joint replacement, arthritis and sports injuries.
Dr. Bargren served in the United States Army in the department of orthopedic surgery at Madigan General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington from 1969-1971. He was also the team physician for the Tacoma Star Soccer team for 10 years and his love for soccer continues. He was formerly a clinical professor in the department of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle and a lecturer for the University of Puget Sound physical therapy department. He is on the staff of all Tacoma hospitals, and he is the author of several articles and presentations on joint replacement and sports medicine.
Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, running, golfing, and reading.
