Overview
David Mourning, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a clinical interest in spine surgery. He treats the entire spine, encompassing cervical to lumbar and sacral conditions including disc herniations, stenosis, scoliosis, and fractures. He performs minimally invasive procedures including the XLIF procedure (fusion), discectomies, and kyphoplasty as well as traditional open reconstructive surgery with laminectomies and fusions for degenerative conditions of the spine.
He understands that the proper treatment of a spinal problem involves more than just reading an MRI report. It’s a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s complaints and neurologic findings, combined with a mutual understanding of what surgery can do to help alleviate their pain or disability. He finds nothing more rewarding than watching a patient regain their quality of life after surgery.
He previously worked with a large multispecialty group in Bremerton, Washington, as one of only two spine surgeons on the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas. He has also been a contributing author in multiple published scientific articles relating to orthopedic and spine surgery.
Dr. Mourning and his wife enjoy focusing their free time on their daughter. He balances his family life with his favorite outdoor pursuits, as an avid runner, snowboarder, and mountain climber.
