Yarrow J. McConnell, MD

Yarrow McConnell, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon and surgical oncologist with specialized expertise in the treatment of breast cancer, melanoma and other skin cancers, stomach cancer, colon and rectal cancer, and sarcoma, as well as other cancers.

She received her medical degree and general surgery training at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and then became board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She completed an accredited Society of Surgical Oncology fellowship and graduate research work in cancer biology at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After becoming board certified as a surgical oncologist, she developed a high-volume practice in Vancouver, British Columbia with a reputation for compassionate care and excellent outcomes. She is a member of numerous professional and learned societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Dr. McConnell believes that every cancer is unique and every patient deserves expert, personalized, thoughtful and compassionate care throughout the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up phases of their cancer journey. She aims to provide this care by developing a relationship with each patient and their family, listening carefully and communicating clearly, coordinating surgical decisions with other treatments (e.g., chemotherapy, radiation), and continuously updating her knowledge of new developments and techniques in cancer surgery.

She enjoys spending time with family, hiking, kayaking, sailing, gardening and music.
